CONTEXT

NEXUS Smart Logistics (WP5) constitutes a work package of 7 different independent but interconnected projects focused on the digitalization and integration of the hinterland and foreland transportation and logistics services’ activity involving the port, and all the important parties involved with cargo container shipping.

NEXUS Smart Logistics has the aim to become a driver and game changer work package to push emergent technology [Blockchain\AI\ML] into this (traditional) market, by building new independent products specifically for this global ecosystem but integrated with the Port Single Window, aka Port Community System (PCS).

These 7 projects consider developing solutions for the shipping providers involved, namely carriers, ports and terminals, depots, haulers, forwarders, and shippers\consignees by specifying, designing and piloting a better and more efficient way for these players to work digitally, collaboratively and connected to the “Nexus” network, digitalizing documentation, sharing information in real-time, giving visibility to the cargo and saving energy by optimizing their operations and routes to and from the port, and crossing the hinterland from and to the shipper and in the foreland from and to the consignee.
